Turning the Geopark Into a Tourism Advantage
BOHOL - Bohol’s UNESCO Global Geopark designation gives the province another way to present its natural and cultural character to travelers. Geotourism can connect visitors with geological features while also introducing them to local history, traditions, communities, and landscapes. The goal is to create experiences where the places visitors explore are not only attractions but also opportunities to understand and appreciate the heritage of Bohol.
Keeping Tourism Moving During the Low Season
Tourism businesses experience different levels of visitor activity throughout the year, making the low season an important period for planning and collaboration. Stakeholders at the forum were encouraged to work together on strategies that can sustain tourism activities and opportunities even when visitor numbers are lower. Creative experiences, stronger local partnerships, and better coordination can help keep destinations active while giving travelers more reasons to explore Bohol beyond peak periods.
Shared Responsibility Can Strengthen the Industry
A successful tourism sector depends on more than attractions alone. Accommodation providers, tour operators, guides, restaurants, transport services, communities, government offices, and other stakeholders all contribute to the visitor experience. Working together can help address challenges while ensuring that tourism growth remains responsible. By protecting its geological and cultural heritage while creating opportunities for local communities, Bohol can build a tourism industry that benefits both the people who live here and the visitors who come to discover the island.
