Taguig City recognized the achievements and contributions of local cooperatives during its Cooperative Month 2026 Culmination Gala and Awards Night, celebrating the organizations and members helping strengthen livelihoods, community partnerships, and inclusive economic growth. Held at Lakeshore Hall along Laguna Lake Highway in Barangay Lower Bicutan, the gathering brought together cooperative members, government officials, and partner organizations for an evening of recognition, collaboration, and celebration. The event highlighted the important role cooperatives play in supporting local communities and building a more sustainable and progressive economy.

Recognizing Excellence in Taguig’s Cooperative Sector

The gala featured the Transformative, Lively, and Caring (TLC) Cooperative City Awards, which recognized cooperatives for their performance, good governance, active participation, and meaningful contributions to Taguig’s cooperative sector. The celebration also highlighted the value of effective leadership, responsible management, and strong partnerships in helping cooperatives grow. Through these recognitions, outstanding organizations and members received appreciation for their efforts to support community development and strengthen the local economy.

Six Cooperatives Benefit From Governance Toolkit Initiative

One of the event’s highlights was the launch and awarding of the Koop Governance Toolkit: From Kit to Capability. The initiative aims to help micro and small cooperatives improve their governance, organizational capacity, and daily operations. Six cooperatives in Taguig benefited from the program, which combines a Cooperative Starter Kit containing a Share and Transfer Book, passbook, and Members Registry Book with structured learning, hands-on mentoring, and technical assistance. The initiative supports cooperatives in building stronger management practices and improving their ability to serve their members.

Celebrating Community, Partnership, and Cooperative Spirit

Beyond the awards, the culmination gala featured activities that showcased the talents and camaraderie of cooperative members. Winners of the Cooplympics were recognized in basketball, cheerdance, Mega Zumba, and Coopknowledge, while Taguig Coops Got Talent provided a platform for members to share their creativity and skills.

Dance and musical performances added to the evening’s festive atmosphere, bringing together participants from across the cooperative community. The gathering also reinforced the importance of collaboration, good governance, and continued learning in sustaining a strong cooperative sector. By supporting capacity-building initiatives and recognizing local achievements, Taguig continues to highlight cooperatives as partners in livelihood generation, community development, and inclusive economic growth.
