Building a Shared Economic Vision
BACOLOD - Bacolod is taking steps toward a more dynamic local economy through a partnership with SGV & Co. for the development of its Local Economic Development Plan. An Economic Visioning and Strategic Planning Workshop brought together representatives from government, the business sector, civil society, and various industries to identify priorities and discuss strategies for the city's future. Their participation helps ensure that economic planning considers different perspectives and responds to the needs of businesses, workers, and communities.
Creating Opportunities for Businesses and Workers
A major focus of the plan is attracting investors who can bring new enterprises and employment opportunities to the city. It also aims to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), support local entrepreneurs, and encourage the development of a more competitive business environment. Improvements in infrastructure and digital services are also part of the discussions, as these can help businesses operate more efficiently and make Bacolod more accessible to potential investors.
Connecting Economic Growth With Better Livelihoods
The development plan places importance on ensuring that economic progress benefits families throughout Bacolod's barangays. By encouraging investment, supporting homegrown businesses, and improving essential services, the city aims to create more opportunities for residents to build sustainable livelihoods. Continued cooperation among government offices, businesses, and community organizations will be important in turning the proposed strategies into practical programs that contribute to long-term economic growth.
