Finding a cozy place to read can make story time even more meaningful, especially when it becomes an opportunity for grandparents and grandchildren to spend time together. In BGC, young readers now have a special seat of their own with the arrival of the new Mini-Me Chairs at Uptown Bonifacio. The chairs are part of Read to Lead, an initiative by Megaworld Lifestyle Malls and S.I.L.Y.A. (Sa Iyo Lolo at Lola Yantok Aming Alay) that brings reading, storytelling, and intergenerational bonding into the mall experience. The program was launched on September 9, 2026, at the Uptown Mall Atrium.
A Mini Chair Made for Young Readers
The new Mini-Me Chairs are smaller companion versions of S.I.L.Y.A.’s signature rocking chairs, created specifically for children aged 10 and below. Placed beside the larger rocking chairs, the Mini-Me Chairs allow grandchildren to have their own comfortable spot next to their grandparents. This setup creates a simple space where families can read, talk, listen to stories, and enjoy time together. The concept turns an ordinary reading moment into an opportunity for generations to connect through books and conversation.
Reading and Bonding at Uptown Bonifacio
The September 9 launch at Uptown Mall featured S.I.L.Y.A. rocking chair setups, live storytelling, and a dedicated reading lounge. Young learners from Maple Bear Canadian Preschool in Uptown Bonifacio also participated in the interactive storytelling activity.
The storytelling session was led by Rey Bufi, founder of The Storytelling Project, who shared Saan-Saan, a children's story written by award-winning author Russell Molina. The story follows siblings Hiraya and Likha as they travel through different worlds aboard a magical space-dyip.
A Reading Lounge for BGC Families
Adding to the experience, Biblio partnered with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls to create reading lounges at Uptown Bonifacio and Eastwood City. The reading lounges feature mini-libraries where children can borrow and read books on-site. Together with the S.I.L.Y.A. rocking chairs and Mini-Me Chairs, the spaces provide families with another way to enjoy books while spending quality time together. For families visiting BGC, the reading lounge offers a different kind of mall experience—one centered on books, imagination, storytelling, and time between generations.
