Five Sports, One Big Opportunity
BOHOL - The clinic will feature five sports across different venues: Arnis at Luyo Covered Court, badminton at Datag Covered Court, chess at the LGU Conference Hall, table tennis at the LGU Multi-Purpose and Cultural Center, and basketball at Balbalan Covered Court. Children can experience structured training while learning from coaches and fellow young athletes. Participants are encouraged to bring extra clothing, enough drinking water, and snacks so they can stay comfortable and energized throughout the activities.
Building Skills From the Ground Up
Spearheaded by the Provincial Youth Development Office through the HANAS (Harnessing New and Advanced Sports Skills) Program, the initiative brings grassroots sports development directly into local communities. Programs like this can help children build fundamental skills while also developing confidence, discipline, focus, teamwork, and sportsmanship. A young player does not need to know where their athletic journey will lead yet—the important first step is having a place where they can try, practice, and discover what they are capable of.
Where Future Champions Can Begin
The Abante Grassroots Sports Clinic is more than a one-day training activity. It creates an accessible starting point for children who may someday represent their schools, municipalities, or province in competition. By bringing different sports closer to communities, Bohol is helping make athletic development an opportunity available to more young people. Today’s beginner could become tomorrow’s champion, coach, or sports leader—and it can all start with one Saturday, one sport, and the courage to step onto the court.
