A Store That Started Small
OZAMIZ CITY - Gloria Bazar’s story begins in 1968, when its first store opened along Rizal Avenue in Ozamiz City as a small neighborhood business. According to the company’s current history page, that modest beginning eventually grew into a wider retail operation, with branches added in other parts of Mindanao over the decades. Its Ozamiz presence also expanded with another location along Don Anselmo Bernad Avenue in 2018, giving the business more than one place to serve customers in the city. Rather than treating longevity as a finished chapter, the company presents its history as an ongoing story of adapting while staying connected to its roots.
More Than a Storefront
The business also remains visible in Ozamiz’s working and professional community in 2026. In January, Gloria Bazar’s conference hall hosted the Misamis Occidental Association of Family Welfare Committee’s first-quarter meeting, which brought together representatives from numerous companies and organizations across the province. Months later, Gloria Bazar was among the employers participating in the Misamis University Job Fair 2026 in Ozamiz, where 13 employers collectively offered 85 vacancies to jobseekers. Those appearances offer a different way of looking at an old business: not simply as a familiar shopping destination, but as an enterprise still participating in the city's employment and workplace landscape.
Keeping the Next Chapter Moving
There is something interesting about a business that can span several generations without becoming frozen in the past. Gloria Bazar’s current company information describes its growth from Ozamiz to branches in Maranding, Oroquieta, Pagadian, and Calamba, while its online store continues to carry contemporary household and consumer products. That mix of an old starting point and present-day retail operations gives the company a distinctly local business story: its roots remain in an Ozamiz neighborhood store, but its day-to-day identity keeps adjusting to what customers need now. After more than five decades, the interesting part is not simply that Gloria Bazar has lasted—it is how the business continues to make itself relevant.
