Bonchon — Korean for 'my hometown' — was founded in Busan, South Korea in 2002 by Jinduk Seo, and was brought to the Philippines by Scott Tan, opening its first local store in November 2010. Its hand-battered, double-fried Korean fried chicken caught on fast, with 28 branches opening in Metro Manila within a little over a year. The chain now counts around 180 branches nationwide.
