CEBU — A homegrown café and patisserie has captured the hearts of Cebuanos with its handcrafted croissants, specialty coffee, and a name that carries a simple but powerful message. Padayon Croissants & Coffee, located at Level 4 of Ayala Malls Central Bloc in IT Park, has quickly become a favorite destination for those seeking comfort in every bite.
A Name That Speaks Volumes
The brand draws inspiration from the Bisaya word "padayon," which means to continue or move forward. This philosophy is woven into every aspect of the café, from its welcoming atmosphere to its resilience-driven identity. The venture is led by Bethel San Juan, Ariel Alegado, and Marc Anthony Abangan of the Don Macchiatos Group of Companies.
The café's greeting, "Dayon kamo," reflects the Filipino tradition of welcoming guests with warmth and generosity. It invites customers to pause, recharge, and share something comforting amid their busy lives. This cultural touch distinguishes Padayon from typical café chains.
A Croissant for Every Craving
Padayon offers over 19 distinct croissant flavors, each freshly baked and flaky. Options range from Mango Royale and Ivory Velvet to Choco Hazelnut Burst and Golden Caramel Puff. Adventurous palates can explore Kunafa Jewel, Pistachio Kiss, and Tiramisu Blast.
The pastries are priced affordably, making indulgence accessible to students, professionals, and families alike. Diners can pair their croissants with espresso-based drinks such as White Mocha, Salted Caramel, Spanish Latte, or Caramel Macchiato. Non-coffee choices like Chocolate Latte and Matcha Latte offer alternatives for those avoiding caffeine.
The frappe selection features Salted Caramel, Oreo Cheesecake, and Biscoff. Teas including English Breakfast and Moroccan Mint round out the beverage menu. Every drink is crafted to complement the buttery, flaky texture of the croissants.
Designed with Cebuano Soul
The café's interiors, designed by Yaoto Architects + Partners, blend Cebuano touches with French influences. Architects Farina Yaoto and Eugene Yaoto incorporated patchwork forms and subtle imperfections to reflect the brand's message of pushing through setbacks.
"We wanted the interior to have a flowing feel, embracing patchwork forms and subtle imperfections, creating a space that is homey for patrons to relax," Yaoto explained. The design creates an oasis where customers can catch up with friends or enjoy quiet moments alone.
A Sweet Welcome and Sweet Deals
Padayon's reception has been overwhelming. Over 3,000 croissants sold out in a single day following its opening. The café offers value deals, including three croissants for ₱185 or a half-dozen for ₱325, which includes a 10 percent discount on coffee orders.
An "End of Day" promo gives customers 50 percent off all pastries during the final hour before closing. These incentives encourage repeat visits and make Padayon a practical choice for everyday indulgence.
