PHILIPPINES — The Philippines has cemented its status as a global beach destination after three of its prized locations secured spots in Condé Nast Traveller’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards. Coron, Boracay, and El Nido were named among the world’s top 15 beaches, making the country the only one with three entries on the prestigious list.

A Global Recognition for Philippine Shores

Coron in Palawan claimed fourth place with a score of 93.32, leading the Philippine contingent. Boracay followed at eighth with 91.49, while El Nido, also in Palawan, ranked tenth with 91.27. The results highlight the international appeal of the country’s white-sand coastlines and turquoise waters.

The top spot went to Veligandu Island Beach in the Maldives, which scored 97.55. Mounday’s Bay in Anguilla took second with 94.71, and Ao Nang Beach in Thailand placed third at 94.00. Despite fierce competition, the Philippines stood out as the only nation with multiple entries in the top 15.

Palawan Tops Asia’s Best Islands

The recognition extends beyond beaches. Palawan was named the best island in Asia, outranking Phu Quoc and Con Dao in Vietnam, Koh Lanta and Phuket in Thailand, and Langkawi in Malaysia. Boracay also made the Asian island list, placing seventh behind Koh Samui and ahead of Bali and Lombok in Indonesia.

These rankings reinforce Palawan and Boracay’s reputations as premier tourism draws in Southeast Asia. The dual recognition—for both beaches and islands—demonstrates the depth and diversity of the Philippine archipelago’s natural attractions. It also signals strong potential for sustained visitor growth in these destinations.

What This Means for Philippine Tourism

International accolades of this magnitude provide a significant boost to the country’s tourism industry. They generate free global publicity, attract high-value travelers, and encourage repeat visits. For local communities, increased tourist arrivals translate into more livelihood opportunities in hospitality, transport, and retail.

The Department of Tourism has consistently promoted the Philippines as a top-tier beach destination. This latest recognition validates those efforts and strengthens the country’s competitive edge against regional rivals. It also reinforces the importance of sustainable tourism practices to preserve these natural treasures for future generations.

The Full List of Top 15 Beaches

The 2026 list featured destinations from across the globe. After the Philippines’ entries, Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos, Mambo Beach in Curaçao, and Pink Sands Beach in the Bahamas followed. Holbox Beach in Mexico, Bora Bora in French Polynesia, and Cas Abao Beach in Curaçao also made the cut.

Iztuzu Beach in Turkey, Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica, and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico completed the top 15. The diverse mix of locations reflects the universal appeal of pristine coastal environments. The Philippines’ strong showing among these global icons is a testament to its natural beauty.

A Testament to Natural Beauty

The recognition from Condé Nast Traveller comes as the Philippines continues to recover and expand its tourism sector. Coron, Boracay, and El Nido have long been favorites among both local and foreign travelers. Their inclusion in this prestigious list cements their status as world-class destinations.

For Filipinos, the achievement is a source of national pride. It highlights the country’s rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. As the world takes notice, the challenge now is to manage these destinations responsibly, ensuring they remain vibrant and welcoming for generations to come.
