Bringing Bacolod’s History Closer to the Youth
BACOLOD - In celebration of National History Month, the Bacolod City Tourism Development Office launched the Pueblo Heritage Tour Series, an initiative designed to bring local history closer to the younger generation. The first leg of the series was held on August 16, 2026, with students from Bacolod City National High School visiting Pueblo de Magsungay, one of the early settlements connected to Bacolod’s historical narrative. The activity gave students an opportunity to learn about the city's past outside the traditional classroom setting while experiencing the communities where important parts of Bacolod’s story unfolded.
Exploring Magsungay Through Heritage Education
In partnership with Project H.A.P.I.T.: Youth Tourism Collective, the heritage series aims to trace Bacolod’s development through Magsungay, Sum-ag, and Granada. Led by Mr. Ariz Jasper Duatin, Club Adviser of Project H.A.P.I.T.: Youth Tourism Collective, the students traveled aboard the City E-Jeep and explored Magsungay while learning about its role in the origins and development of Bacolod. Bringing young people directly to historical communities allows them to better understand how places, people, and local traditions contributed to the city's growth over time.
Three Pueblos, One Shared Heritage
The Pueblo Heritage Tour Series presents Bacolod’s history as a journey through communities that each contribute to the city's larger story. With Magsungay, Sum-ag, and Granada serving as key stops in the series, students can discover how Bacolod developed from its early settlements into the city it is today. The first Pueblo de Magsungay Heritage Tour marks the beginning of an initiative that connects young people with local history, community stories, and cultural heritage. Three pueblos.
