Thousands of Trees Planted for Forest Restoration
BACOLOD - A total of 7,700 trees were transplanted through the Luntian 143 Tree Planting Activity of the Philippine Red Cross–Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter in partnership with Central Philippines State University (CPSU). The initiative brought together volunteers, university personnel, students, farmer-partners, and other participants with a shared goal of restoring forest cover and supporting environmental rehabilitation across identified areas in Negros Occidental.
Additional Trees Transplanted in Bago City
Another 700 trees were transplanted in Bago City by Philippine Red Cross personnel and volunteers, further expanding the reach of the Luntian 143 activity. The combined efforts across Kabankalan and Bago demonstrate how partnerships among institutions, volunteers, students, and local communities can contribute to broader environmental restoration goals. Before the engagement, CPSU NREMS Director Gregorio D. Predo briefed volunteers and participants about the activity. The project was also supported by personnel from the Production and Enterprise Development Office, faculty and staff of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, Forestry Department students, and farmer-partners from the Camingawan-Tagukon Farmers’ Association.
Strengthening Partnerships for Environmental Protection
The successful activity reflects CPSU's continuing commitment to building partnerships that generate meaningful environmental initiatives. University President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca, together with Dr. Predo, CAF Dean Dr. Hanzel L. Pedrosa, PEDO Director Dr. Maryvic L. Pedrosa, and Philippine Red Cross–Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter Administrator Ms. Rita Benita Mirasol, supported the collaborative effort. The Philippine Red Cross–Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter also expressed appreciation to its public and private institutional partners, supporters, and sponsors who contributed resources for the activity. Through continued cooperation and volunteer participation, projects such as Luntian 143 help strengthen reforestation efforts while encouraging communities and institutions to take an active role in protecting Negros Occidental's natural environment.
