TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The Provincial Government of Bohol has released ₱2.66 million in financial assistance to the municipality of Catigbian, funding infrastructure, safety, and community facilities across 22 barangays. The allocation reflects the Capitol’s commitment to bringing resources directly to grassroots communities.
Completing Key Infrastructure Projects
Barangay Mantacida received the largest single grant at ₱1 million, earmarked for the completion of a covered court that will serve as a venue for community gatherings and emergency shelter. The structure is expected to become the heart of the barangay, hosting fiestas, sports events, and evacuation operations during calamities.
Five other barangays received ₱200,000 each for targeted improvements. Mahayag Sur will install concrete benches at its evacuation center, while Candomayao will construct a new public comfort room. Bagtic will fabricate and install protective iron grills, Ambuan will rehabilitate its multi‑purpose hall, and Causwagan Norte will gravel the road connecting Purok 3 to Purok 4. Each project directly addresses a long‑standing community need.
Barangay Aid for All
The remaining ₱660,000 was distributed equally among all 22 barangays in Catigbian, giving each community ₱30,000 to fund its own priority project. This inclusive approach ensures that even the smallest villages receive a share of provincial support, empowering local leaders to decide what their residents need most.
Governor Aris Aumentado emphasized that the funding is part of his “Aris Para sa Barangay” program, which aims to deliver transparent and inclusive governance. He noted that the Capitol works closely with municipal leaders to ensure that every peso is spent on projects that directly benefit the people.
Strong LGU‑Capitol Partnership
Catigbian Mayor Benjie Oliva and Vice Mayor Esteban Angilan lauded the provincial government for its continued support and close coordination. They noted that the projects were identified through consultations with barangay captains, ensuring that the funds address the most pressing local concerns. The partnership exemplifies how provincial and municipal governments can align to deliver meaningful results.
The funding package covers a range of needs, from evacuation center improvements that strengthen disaster preparedness to road graveling that enhances access for farmers.
