Planning Across Bohol’s Economic Sectors
BOHOL - Nine national government agencies presented their proposed programs, activities, projects, and budget requirements for fiscal year 2028. The proposals cover a wide range of areas, from improving farm productivity and fisheries to strengthening tourism, supporting enterprises, developing cooperatives, and protecting workers. Looking at these sectors together allows development planning to consider how different parts of Bohol’s economy can support one another rather than operating separately.
More Support for Farmers and Local Enterprises
Agriculture remains closely connected to food security, rural livelihoods, and local business activity. Proposed initiatives involving farming, fisheries, agrarian reform, and food production can help strengthen the people and enterprises that contribute to Bohol’s food supply. Meanwhile, trade and cooperative programs can create additional avenues for producers and entrepreneurs to develop and market their products. When farmers and small enterprises have better access to training, markets, financing, and support services, local economic activity can grow from the community level upward.
Preparing Bohol for the Opportunities Ahead
Tourism and employment also form important parts of the province’s economic future. Tourism development can create opportunities across accommodation, transportation, food, guiding, retail, and other visitor-related industries, while employment programs can help workers prepare for changing labor needs. The approved proposals will undergo further refinement as recommendations and additional activities are incorporated. Planning early gives Bohol more time to connect investments with community needs and build an economy that is productive, inclusive, resilient, and ready for the opportunities of 2028.
