Bringing Basic Healthcare Closer to CSOs
BOHOL - Bohol’s civil society sector accessed medical, dental, and maternal health services during the second day of the province’s CSO Week celebration on September 22, 2026, at the Bohol Cultural Center. The health and wellness activity accommodated 104 officers and members of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), giving participants access to basic healthcare services alongside the celebration’s activities promoting citizen participation and community engagement.
Providing Medical, Dental, and Maternal Services
The initiative was implemented through the Medical Outreach Unit of the Governor’s Office (GO-MOU) and TaRSIER 117. Of the 104 participants, 36 received medical checkups, 54 availed of dental extractions, and 14 accessed maternal services. The medical component included consultations, while dental services covered checkups, prophylaxis, tooth cleaning, and extractions. Maternal care also included reproductive health services, giving participating CSO members an opportunity to access several basic health services in one community-based activity.
Connecting Health With Stronger Community Participation
The health and wellness activity complemented the broader objectives of CSO Week, which carries the theme “Co-creating Resilience: Elevating People’s Councils through Cross-Sectoral Partnership.” Organized by the Bohol People’s Council (BPC) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Provincial CSO Desk Office and Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), the celebration brings PGBh-accredited CSOs together to strengthen participation and partnerships. The initiative also forms part of the Capitol’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, supporting efforts toward responsive and inclusive governance across Bohol as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
