33 Responders Sharpen Their Skills
BOHOL - The five-day program gathered 33 participants from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Rural Health Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police. Bringing these groups together allows responders from different fields to develop a shared understanding of emergency procedures. The Standard First Aid component focused on essential skills that can be critical before a patient reaches a medical facility, while the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course strengthened capabilities related to operating emergency vehicles safely and effectively.
Teamwork Can Make a Difference
Emergencies rarely involve only one agency. A road accident may require police assistance, firefighters, medical personnel, disaster responders, and other support teams working together. Training across agencies can help build coordination and confidence before an actual emergency occurs. The goal is not simply to have responders who know what to do individually, but teams that can communicate and work together when situations become difficult and time is limited.
Building a More Prepared Bien Unido
Training local responders is an investment in the community they serve. Stronger first-aid knowledge, safer emergency vehicle operations, and better coordination can help Bien Unido become more prepared to handle emergencies and support residents during challenging situations. Behind every emergency response is a team that has to be ready before the call comes in. By strengthening the people who answer that call, Bohol continues building resilient and self-reliant communities across the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
