Monitoring Risks Across Key Sectors
BOHOL - The Provincial Government of Bohol continues to strengthen disaster preparedness as it monitors climate, agricultural, health, and other emerging risks across the province. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) held a full council meeting on September 17, 2026, at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall to review developments and response measures across key sectors. The meeting was presided over by Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, together with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Head Dr. Anthony Damalerio, with representatives from national government agencies, provincial offices, and the private sector participating in the discussions.
Coordinating Responses to Climate, Health, and Emergency Concerns
Updates were presented by PAGASA-Bohol Head Leonardo Samar, Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry Pamugas, National Irrigation Administration representatives, Provincial Veterinarian Head Meydallyn Paman, and Provincial Health Office Head Dr. Fruserma Mary Uy. The Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also provided updates concerning fire response, seismic monitoring, social protection, and emergency preparedness. Discussions covered a wide range of concerns, including weather conditions and El Niño, agriculture and water resources, animal disease prevention, food supply, fire incidents, earthquake monitoring, dengue, and hospital capacity. Bringing these concerns together in one coordination meeting allows agencies to share information and align preparedness measures as conditions develop.
Building Resilient and Prepared Communities
The meeting also emphasized the importance of coordinated preparedness among government agencies and other partners. Provincial offices were directed to continue strengthening monitoring, response planning, and the prepositioning of necessary resources as potential risks emerge. Under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, these efforts support the province’s Strategic Governance Roadmap and its continuing focus on disaster resilience and community preparedness. By maintaining coordination across climate, agriculture, health, emergency response, and social protection sectors, Bohol continues to work toward building resilient and self-reliant communities while supporting sustainable development throughout the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
