ILOILO — Healthlink (Iloilo), Inc. held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao, marking a major expansion of accessible healthcare in the city. The event celebrated a new beginning for diagnostic and outpatient services in the rapidly developing district.
A Legacy Fulfilled After 15 Years
Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu described the occasion as deeply personal. She shared that the expansion was a long-held dream of the late Dr. Ronnie Z. Samoro, who first discussed the vision with her more than 15 years ago. Dr. Ronnie was not just a physician to her family; he was a trusted friend and caregiver.
The mayor recalled how Dr. Ronnie served as her lead doctor during childbirth, despite being a pulmonologist and not an obstetrician. His dedication and genuine concern for patients left a lasting impression. The new facility stands as a testament to his enduring legacy of compassion and excellence.
Bringing Quality Care Closer to Ilonggos
Located in Mandurriao, the new Healthlink facility will offer convenient access to outpatient specialists, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory tests. Residents will no longer need to endure long travel times or hospital delays for essential medical services. The strategic location serves a growing residential and commercial hub.
Healthlink (Iloilo), Inc. was established in 2004 and has grown into a network of approximately 80 medical and dental specialists. Its services span cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, pediatrics, OB-GYN, orthopedics, and general surgery. The expansion continues this tradition of comprehensive care.
Supporting City Health Programs
The new facility is expected to complement the city's HAPLOS Program. Under this initiative, qualified Ilonggos can receive up to ₱50,000 for hospitalization and up to ₱10,000 for laboratory requirements. The city has partnered with 10 public and private hospitals for this program.
Mayor Treñas expressed hope that Healthlink would soon become a partner for laboratory services. She also highlighted MediSen+, which provides free maintenance medicines for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. These programs reflect the city's commitment to accessible healthcare for all.
Economic Growth and Community Impact
The project generates employment during construction and will create long-term career opportunities for local doctors, nurses, medical technologists, and administrative staff. It further cements Iloilo City's position as a regional healthcare hub in Western Visayas.
