DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — The 26th Araw ng Digos City is set to transform the streets and public spaces of this provincial capital into a vibrant celebration of community, culture, and sports from September 6 to 8, 2026. Under the theme “Duyog, Dasig, Dungog Digos,” the three-day festival invites Digoseños and visitors to experience the city’s unique spirit and identity.

A Festival of Rhythm and Sport

The festivities kick off with the Opening Ceremony on September 6 at the Don Mariano Marcos Elementary School Grounds. The same venue will host the Sadya Bandayag: Drum, Lyre and Bugle Competition, where school-based and open categories will showcase precision and musical energy. Marching bands will fill the air with rhythmic beats, drawing crowds of proud parents and music lovers.

Sports enthusiasts have much to look forward to throughout the celebration. The MJFC Basketball Tournament, running from August 14 to September 8, brings together barangay teams, intercollegiate squads, and neighboring municipalities. The MJFC Motocross Competition on September 7 at Sitio Power, Barangay Tres de Mayo promises high-speed thrills and daring stunts for adrenaline seekers.

A Celebration of Local Talent

On September 7, the Tagisan ng Tinig Year 2: Inter-Barangay Edition will take center stage at the DMMES Grounds. Talented singers representing the city’s 26 barangays will compete in a showcase of vocal power and community pride. The evening will celebrate the diverse voices that make Digos a true City of Choice.

The same night, the 3rd Datu Tampurong Awards at Big 8 Hotel Digos will honor outstanding employees, businesses, and partner agencies. This recognition ceremony highlights the individuals and institutions behind Digos’s progress. It is an evening of gratitude and inspiration, celebrating those who serve the community with excellence.

Food, Music, and Community Spirit

No Araw ng Digos celebration would be complete without the beloved street traditions that bring families together. The Hudyaka sa Kadalanan will close down roads for live performances, street food stalls, and late-night music. This open-air party encourages everyone to bring their barkada and dance the night away.

On September 8, the Lechonan sa Kadalanan will transform Magsaysay Street to Lapu-Lapu Street into a giant open-air feast. This long-standing Digoseño tradition serves as the city’s ultimate gastronomic celebration, where neighbors share tables and flavors flow freely. The aroma of roasting lechon will guide visitors through a uniquely Digoseño culinary experience.

45 Lechoneros, One Epic Feast

This year’s Lechonan sa Kadalanan promises to be bigger than ever, with 45 participating lechoneros lining the streets. From Kuding’s Lechon to Wynna’s Lechon, each vendor brings their own secret recipe and cooking style. The variety ensures that every visitor finds a flavor that satisfies their craving.

The event transforms the usual city streets into a massive open-air dining destination. Families, friends, and even strangers become instant companions as they share tables and pass around servings of crispy, juicy lechon. It is a culinary experience that captures the heart of Digoseño hospitality.

Know Before You Go: Safety and Prohibited Items

To ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone, organizers have implemented security checks at designated entrance and exit points. Visitors are advised to check the event map and follow the signs and event marshals. Cooperation with authorities ensures a smooth and secure experience for all attendees.

Several items are strictly prohibited inside the event area. Non-transparent water containers, backpacks, sharp objects like icepicks and knives, flammable liquids, and unauthorized firearms are not allowed. Parking in non-designated areas is also prohibited and violators will be penalized. Visitors are reminded not to leave belongings at the frisking area.

A Grand Finale of Unity

The official motorcade on September 8 will march from Rizal Avenue to the DMMES Grounds, featuring various sectors and organizations. The parade showcases the unity and diversity of the Digoseño community, with colorful floats and lively participants. It is the perfect prelude to the Grand Concert and Closing Ceremony that caps the celebration.

The 26th Araw ng Digos City is more than a series of events; it is a testament to the resilience and joy of its people. Visitors are encouraged to join the festivities, experience the warmth of Digoseño hospitality, and discover why the city proudly calls itself the City of Choice.
