CEBU — As part of the province’s 457th Founding Anniversary, Cebu Provincial Hospital–Bogo City became a hub of healing from August 21 to 23, 2026. The surgical mission successfully performed 48 procedures, bringing specialized medical care directly to communities in the north.
A Lifesaving Surgical Mission in Northern Cebu
The three-day mission addressed a wide range of surgical needs. The 48 procedures included 15 gallbladder surgeries and 20 AV fistula procedures for kidney patients. Medical teams also performed 13 other surgeries covering thyroid, parotid, hernia, and excision cases.
Patients were carefully evaluated and pre-screened weeks in advance by the surgical team. This ensured that every procedure was safe and appropriate for the individuals served. The mission catered to residents from Bogo City and neighboring municipalities like Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Tabogon, and Tabuelan.
Free Health Services Draw Hundreds
The medical outreach extended beyond the operating room. On August 22, the Bogo City Sports Complex hosted a comprehensive health mission. Hundreds of residents availed of free consultations, diagnostic services, and essential care.
A total of 284 people received medical consultations, while 414 were served by the pharmacy. Dental services were provided to 222 individuals. Health workers also conducted 59 ECG tests, 69 chest X-rays, and various laboratory tests for blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol. The mission also distributed 162 pairs of reading glasses and provided nutrition counseling to 51 people.
A Collaboration for the Community
The success of the mission relied on a powerful collaboration. Doctors, nurses, dentists, optometrists, lawyers, and countless volunteers gave their time and expertise. Medical institutions like the All-Terrain Medical Relief Organization, Perpetual Succour Hospital, and Allied Care Experts Medical Center–Cebu played key roles.
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines–Cebu Province Chapter provided free legal assistance during the mission. This holistic approach addressed both health and legal needs of the community. It underscored the province's commitment to bringing comprehensive services closer to its people.
Reaching Beyond Metro Cebu
Dr. Nikki Catalan, Capitol Piso Health consultant, emphasized the mission's core purpose: to make essential healthcare accessible to those outside major urban centers. Many of the partner organizations returned for their second year of support, showing deep dedication. Their continued partnership strengthens the impact of these annual health missions.
The initiative reflects a simple but powerful goal. "People first. Service first. No Cebuano left behind," Dr. Catalan stated. The surgical mission and health services brought this vision to life, offering hope and healing to families in northern Cebu.
