PINAMUNGAJAN, Cebu — A significant boost is coming to public education in this western town. On August 17, 2026, the Cebu Provincial Government and the Municipality of Pinamungajan formalized a partnership to construct modern school facilities at Lamac Elementary School.

A Modern Blueprint for Learning

The agreement paves the way for two major infrastructure projects on municipal land. A 576-square-meter area will host a covered court or gymnasium, providing a safe space for physical education and community events. An additional 450 square meters will be dedicated to a two-storey school building featuring four smart classrooms.

These "smart classrooms" represent a leap toward integrating technology into everyday learning. They are designed to provide educators with tools to enhance instruction and keep students engaged. This project directly aligns with the province's goal of modernizing public schools and delivering 21st-century skills to learners.

A Partnership for Progress

The legal mechanism used is called a "Deed of Usufruct." In simple terms, the Municipality of Pinamungajan retains ownership of the land, but it grants the provincial government the right to develop, use, and maintain the facilities on the property. This is a standard approach for inter-government infrastructure projects.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro and Mayor Glenn Baricuatro signed the pact, demonstrating a strong alignment between provincial and local leadership. The event was witnessed by Vice Mayor Jessica Baricuatro and other key officials, underscoring the broad support for the initiative. The collaboration ensures that resources are maximized for the benefit of the community.

Beyond the School Gates

The ceremony was part of the Capitol's "Serbisyo Karaban," an outreach program bringing government services directly to communities. During the event, the governor announced additional funding for Pinamungajan, including ₱3 million for its Charter Day celebration. A further ₱2 million was pledged for the improvement of the town's public library.

These additional pledges highlight the province's holistic approach to community development. The new school facilities, combined with support for cultural events and public learning spaces, aim to uplift the entire town. It demonstrates a commitment to creating a nurturing environment for both education and civic pride.

An Investment in the Future

For the students and teachers of Lamac Elementary School, the new facilities represent a transformative change. The gymnasium offers a dedicated venue for sports and assemblies, while the new classrooms reduce overcrowding. This creates a safer, more conducive atmosphere for learning.

The project is a tangible investment in the future leaders of Pinamungajan. By providing modern infrastructure, the local and provincial governments are signaling their confidence in the town's potential. The community can look forward to the positive impact these facilities will have for generations.
