DUMAGUETE CITY — The wait is over. The most prestigious crown in Negros Oriental is set to shine again with the official launch of Hara sa Negros Oriental 2026. The pageant, formerly known as Miss Negros Oriental, promises to be a celebration of beauty, culture, and provincial pride.
A Queen for a New Era
"Hara," the Visayan word for "Queen," reflects a renewed focus on the pageant's core mission. The search goes beyond physical beauty and poise. It emphasizes cultural preservation, tourism promotion, environmental stewardship, and women empowerment.
The competition is the centerpiece of the Buglasan Festival, often called the "Festival of Festivals." It unites the province's 21 local government units, with each fielding a candidate. This structure transforms the pageant into a powerful showcase of Negrense talent and heritage.

The pageant is spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental under Governor Manuel Sagarbarria. The Negros Oriental Provincial Tourism Board is also a key organizer. Their goal is to promote the province's "Ridge-to-Reef" eco-tourism campaign.
Candidates will compete in various segments, including the Festival Costume Competition. This specific segment highlights the indigenous attire and heritage of their respective municipalities. The official launch, or Conferment Ceremony, is set for September 13, 2026, at 4:00 PM. It will be held at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Barangay Daro. This event will formally introduce the 21 candidates to the public.
The grand coronation will take place during the main Buglasan Festival week in October. The winner will serve as the province's official cultural and tourism ambassador for the year. This role involves promoting local sites and cultural initiatives to regional and international visitors.
