GENERAL SANTOS CITY - A school established with Indigenous learners specifically in mind can provide an opportunity to consider educational needs through a more community-centered lens. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, Indigenous Peoples education can take into account cultural identity, community circumstances, and the importance of preserving heritage while students pursue formal education. The proposed Nicolas Danie Aligado IP Integrated School represents an institutional approach to this goal. A Partnership Between the City and DepEd
The school is being pursued through cooperation between the City Government of General Santos and the Department of Education – Division of General Santos City. The Sangguniang Panlungsod resolution authorizes the city mayor to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the DepEd division for the school's establishment. This partnership is significant because education facilities require coordination among local and national institutions. The city can contribute local support and resources, while DepEd provides the framework and expertise associated with public education. Such cooperation can help connect community priorities with the national education system.
Education Can Help Preserve Cultural Identity
