ORMOC CITY — Barangay Bayog reached a major infrastructure milestone on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, following the official turnover ceremony of its newly completed two-storey multipurpose building funded through local development reserves.
Expanding Infrastructure for Community Governance
The ceremonial turnover was led by City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez, alongside city legislators, local leaders, and community residents. The ₱5.7-million facility represents a key investment in strengthening barangay-level administrative operations and public services.
Constructed at an exact contract cost of ₱5,701,074.49, the project was fully funded through Ormoc City's CY 2024 Development Fund. The two-storey structure features a total floor area of 60 square meters per level, providing dedicated spaces tailored for local governance and public assembly.
Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez highlighted that the completed facility reflects the city government's ongoing commitment to upgrading grassroots infrastructure to ensure public services remain accessible to every neighborhood.
Enhancing Local Assembly and Service Delivery
The newly inaugurated facility is designed to serve as a versatile civic hub for the residents of Barangay Bayog:
Community Assemblies: The facility offers a spacious, climate-protected venue for barangay-wide meetings, civic programs, and local development planning.
Administrative Services: The upgraded space expands capacity for day-to-day barangay council affairs, public consultations, and community outreach events.
Youth and Sectoral Engagement: Local organizations, youth groups, and senior citizen associations can utilize the facility for organized workshops, training sessions, and social gatherings.
Broad City and Local Leadership Support
The turnover ceremony brought together key officials from the city and barangay levels. Among those present were Sangguniang Panlungsod Members Tomas Serafica, Gerry Penserga, Caren Torres Rama, and Kia Mercadal.
They were joined by Liga ng mga Barangay Chapter President Esteban Laurente, SK Federation President Jhana Lyka Calixtro, and the council officials of Barangay Bayog, who collectively expressed gratitude for the timely completion of the infrastructure project.
