TACLOBAN CITY — Highlighting the vital role of households in building a safe and inclusive society, solo parents and beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) across Tacloban North recently gathered to mark National Family Week 2026. Carrying the theme "Families, Equalities and Child Wellbeing: Pamilya, Pagkakapantay-pantay, at Kapakanan ng Bata!", the week-long celebration brought families together for learning, bonding, and community support.
Empowering Parents Through Child Protection and Anti-Bullying Forums
A cornerstone of the celebration was an educational Family Forum led by resource speaker Ms. Ma. Jeanzel Margallo. During the session, participants gained deep insights into Republic Act No. 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. Discussions focused heavily on children's fundamental rights, parental responsibilities, and practical strategies parents can use to support and protect children dealing with bullying or peer adversity.
Strengthening Family Ties and Distributing Essential Aid
Beyond the informative workshops, the gathering featured engaging family bonding activities designed to foster unity, joy, and mutual support among households. To cap off the successful community celebration, participating families received practical assistance packages consisting of essential hygiene kits and sacks of rice. Local organizers emphasized that initiatives like these reinforce family resilience and ensure the holistic well-being of children throughout the region.
