ILOILO CITY — Calle Real is transforming into a vibrant night market from August 28 to 30, 2026, inviting food lovers, families, and barkadas to experience the city's rich culinary heritage under the evening lights. The event is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the historic corridor, which has already proven itself as a beloved community gathering.
A Feast for Every Craving
More than 90 kiosks operated by 63 confirmed vendors will line the streets, offering an extraordinary variety of Ilonggo flavors and experiences. From smoky BBQ stalls to refreshing fruit shakes, artisanal coffee, and creative street food, there is something for every palate. The market goes beyond typical street fare, curating a diverse selection that reflects the city's UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy status.
The lineup includes beloved local favorites like puto bumbong, mango sago, takoyaki, shawarma, sisig, and native lechon. Food carts from the Iloilo Mobile Food Community will also join along Guanco Street. Visitors can stroll from one kiosk to another, sampling and discovering new tastes at every turn.
Beyond Food: A Celebration of Community
The night market is more than just a food destination. Lifestyle merchants will offer local souvenirs, handcrafted items, accessories, and spa services, showcasing homegrown creativity and enterprise. Visitors can shop for unique finds while enjoying live cultural performances, buskers, and a fiesta-themed photo booth.
New attractions this year include an aerial act by the Bereber Group, adding a touch of spectacle to the evening. Karaoke sessions invite everyone to join the fun. The event is designed to be a complete night-out experience where shopping, dining, and entertainment come together seamlessly.
Built on Proven Success
Previous editions of the night market have generated over ₱11.5 million in sales and drawn approximately 97,000 visitors across seven runs. This year, organizers are targeting 18,000 visitors for the three-day event. The market has become a significant economic driver for local vendors and a cherished tradition for the community.
Leny Ledesma, executive assistant and Iloilo City's focal person for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, emphasized the market's role in promoting local pride. The theme, "Celebrating Heritage, Community, Ilonggo Pride, Local Flavors, and Cultural Performances," captures the event's deeper purpose. Each edition strengthens the bond between the city's creative economy and its residents.
A Commitment to Safety and Quality
Organizers are tightening food safety, sanitation, and public-safety measures to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. All participating vendors have undergone food handling and food safety training, and health cards are strictly required. Inspection teams from the City Health Office and other agencies will monitor kiosks throughout the event.
The attention to detail reflects Iloilo City's pride in its gastronomic identity. Visitors can enjoy the festivities with confidence, knowing that cleanliness and order are prioritized. The city is ensuring that the celebration of flavor meets the highest standards.
