PlaySpace, a 1,000-square-meter indoor playground, has opened at Ayala Malls Vermosa in Imus, Cavite, offering slides, obstacle courses, and interactive play stations designed to encourage physical play and family bonding . The facility officially opened on July 18 with a blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by actor Paulo Avelino and his business partners .
The family-friendly venue is a partnership between Avelino and fellow fathers Adam Vinluan, John Gonzales, and Bugsy Lising, who spent nearly two years developing the concept . According to Avelino, the idea came from Vinluan during one of their online gaming sessions on Discord about two years ago.
A Business Born from a Father's Vision
The PlaySpace founders share a common goal: giving children a safe place to explore, interact, and simply enjoy being kids . Vinluan, the company's CEO and president, was inspired by his four-year-old son who was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay. He struggled to find places where his son could safely play and interact with other children, which led him to see an opportunity to build a space that helps families while creating a fun environment for children .
"We wanted to create a place where kids can simply enjoy being kids," Avelino said. "Nowadays, kids are becoming addicted to gadgets. It's nice to have a safe space where they can freely be themselves, run around, and actually not be on their phones" . Growing up in Baguio, Avelino recalls enjoying outdoor play, an experience he hopes more children can have despite limited open spaces in urban areas.
A Safe and Welcoming Space for Families
PlaySpace is designed to stimulate children's creativity, imagination, and sensory development with slides, obstacle courses, a large ball pit, interactive play stations, dress-up areas, and cooking and baking activities . Safety was a priority in developing the facility, which follows building safety standards and limits guest capacity .
The venue welcomes children ages one to 17, with each play package admitting one accompanying adult. Following its opening, PlaySpace extended introductory promotional rates, with regular rates at PHP599 for one hour, PHP799 for three hours, and PHP999 for unlimited play . While this first branch is at Ayala Malls Vermosa, the group hopes to expand to more locations and explore new concepts with different themes in the future.
