INDANG, CAVITE — Tourism isn't just about beautiful destinations. It's about the people who welcome you when you arrive. In Cavite, 50 police personnel from the Philippine National Police Cavite just completed a training program that transforms them from ordinary law enforcers into tourism frontliners—and it's a big deal for the province.

What the Participants Learned

The training wasn't just about law enforcement. It was about becoming ambassadors of Cavite's culture, heritage, and hospitality. Karen De Lara, Senior Tourism Operations Officer of the Cavite Provincial Office, walked participants through the history, culture, traditions, destinations, and products of Cavite. Larry T. Andres delivered hands-on training in Basic Life Support and First Aid—skills that can save lives in critical moments. Edward Tiongco led a session on Tourism WORCS: Child Safety and Protection against exploitation, ensuring that the most vulnerable are protected. Phoebe Joyce C. Villanueva introduced the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence, because great service is at the heart of great tourism. PCOL Paul M. Alcarez outlined the objectives of the TOPCOP program, setting the direction for the training, while PMAJ Darwin S. Viadumang discussed human rights standards and incident command, ensuring that enforcement is always fair and professional. PSSg Queennie Mae M. Cunanan led sessions promoting inclusivity and respect in law enforcement.

Why This Matters for Cavite

Tourism is one of Cavite's fastest-growing industries. But growth brings challenges—and safety, security, and hospitality must keep pace. The TOPCOP training ensures that tourists feel safe knowing that trained, professional officers are looking out for them, communities feel proud as their local culture and heritage are showcased to visitors, and the province becomes more competitive as a destination that prioritizes both safety and service excellence. This initiative builds on Cavite's broader tourism development efforts, including the recent CALABARZON Tourism Excellence Awards where the City of Dasmariñas Travel and Tours Association received major honors, and the ongoing promotion of the Cavite Tourism Passport Program that encourages travelers to explore the province's diverse attractions.

A Statement of Readiness and Pride

This isn't just a training program. It's a statement. Cavite is telling the world: We're ready. We're welcoming. We're safe. To the 50 officers who completed the training: you are now the face of Cavite tourism—and the province is proud of you. Mabuhay ang Cavite!
