The Western Visayas German Shepherd Dog Association (WVGSDA), in partnership with SM City Iloilo, is inviting the public to an interactive event that blends a special movie screening with live working-dog demonstrations and meet-and-greets with award-winning German Shepherds.
An Unforgettable Day for Dog Lovers
The event centers on a special advance screening of “Heart of the Beast,” a survival drama starring Brad Pitt and his military combat dog. The film tells the story of former Army Special Forces officer James Belmont and his dog Odin, who must survive a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness. It is a powerful tale about the bond between humans and dogs.
Beyond the cinema, attendees can witness the intelligence and courage of German Shepherds through live demonstrations. These will showcase obedience, responsible ownership, and the exciting world of working-dog sports. It is a chance to see these remarkable animals in action, not just on the big screen.
Meet the Champions
The event features a star-studded lineup of German Shepherds who have excelled in Philippine competitions. Among them are Faro vom Osterberger-Land, the 2025 National Sieger, and Rieke vom Lausitzer Seenland, the 2024 National Siegerin. These dogs were imported from Germany and represent the pinnacle of the breed.
Also present will be Rinja vom Fichtenschlag, a 2026 Regional Champion. A young working-line German Shepherd named Summer will represent the next generation of canine athletes. Visitors can also meet German Shepherd puppies and long-coat puppies, making the event perfect for families.
