ILOILO — The Iloilo City Government is bringing essential health services directly to its constituents, with a focus on senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Within just two days of its Charter Day Medical-Dental Mission, the city has already delivered 574 health service availments across two districts.
A Mission of Care and Action
The initiative, spearheaded by Mayor Raisa Treñas' Atipan Center and the City Health Office, is a testament to the city's commitment to accessible healthcare. The first day in the Molo district saw a significant turnout, with residents availing of free medical consultations and dental services. The second day in Jaro district saw an even larger response, highlighting the community's need for these vital services.
The breakdown of services reflects a comprehensive approach to health. Medical consultations totaled 112, while 102 residents benefited from X-ray services. Dental consultations reached 79, and a significant 105 laboratory services were provided. The pharmacy catered to 110 individuals, ensuring that prescribed medicines were readily available.
Bringing Services Closer to Home
One of the key strengths of this mission is its district-by-district approach. Instead of requiring residents to travel to a central hospital, the city government is bringing the services to their neighborhoods. This is particularly important for senior citizens and PWDs, who may face mobility challenges.
The mission is moving to the La Paz District on August 26, set to serve 100 residents at the La Paz District Gym. On August 27, it will be at Brgy. Libertad in Lapuz. The final scheduled stop is the PHHC Blk. 22 Gym in Mandurriao on August 28, where another 100 residents are expected to be served.
