ILOILO — The Iloilo City Government celebrated the academic achievements of 75 USWAG scholars who graduated with Latin honors during a recognition ceremony at the Ker & Co. Ltd. Building on September 3, 2026. The event highlighted the transformative power of education and the resilience of Ilonggo youth.

The city produced one summa cum laude, 33 magna cum laude, and 41 cum laude awardees, each receiving cash incentives and certificates. Mayor Raisa Treñas emphasized that the recognition goes beyond academic excellence. It also celebrates discipline, hard work, faith, and determination.

Jaeniefehr Lhouise D. Murugathas leads the roster as the sole Summa Cum Laude awardee. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology. Her achievement sets a high standard for academic rigor and serves as an inspiration to fellow scholars.

Mayor Treñas also shared the expansion of Iloilo City College in Molo. The expansion will increase enrollment from 1,300 to a target of 3,000–4,000 students. This initiative provides free college education to more Ilonggos, opening doors for countless families.
