PHILIPPINES — Damosa Land Inc. is stepping up its hospitality investments in Samal Island, with the upcoming 100-room TRYP by Wyndham Samal already 90 percent sold. The four-star project positions the developer for rising tourism demand and improved connectivity with Davao City.
A First for Samal and the Philippines
Developed in partnership with PHINMA Hospitality, TRYP by Wyndham Samal will be the island's first internationally branded hotel. It will also be the Philippines' first TRYP condotel, adding to Damosa Land's growing hospitality portfolio in Mindanao. The project marks the developer's third hospitality partnership with PHINMA Hospitality.
The hotel will feature a 250-seat ballroom and flexible meeting facilities. This allows Damosa to serve both leisure travelers and the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions market. The combination of branded accommodation and event space addresses a gap in Samal's tourism infrastructure.
Strong Sales Reflect Growing Confidence
Damosa Land President Ricardo Floirendo Lagdameo said Samal has reached a point where its potential is becoming increasingly tangible. He cited stronger tourism activity, growing investor interest, and the arrival of developments that can elevate the island's profile.
Samal recorded 921,748 verified tourist arrivals in 2024, underscoring the need for additional accommodation capacity. Visitor traffic continues to grow, and the island's current supply of internationally branded rooms remains limited. TRYP by Wyndham Samal responds directly to this demand.
Bridgeport: A Waterfront Community Taking Shape
Damosa is also developing Bridgeport, a 13-hectare master-planned waterfront community on the island. The project is 70 percent complete, with 90 percent of its units already sold. It features residential condominiums, an open-lot subdivision, and an exclusive marina.
Bridgeport Park is a four-building residential condominium nestled at the highest point of the marina community. Spanning three hectares with only 274 units, it dedicates two-thirds of its area to road networks, parks, and recreational spaces. Harbor View Estates offers upscale open-lot living beside the 90-meter-long marina.
Improved Connectivity to Unlock Growth
The Samal Island-Davao City Connector Bridge is targeted for completion in 2028. It is designed to provide direct road access between Davao City and Samal, transforming travel between the two areas. This infrastructure is expected to further boost tourism and property demand.
For Damosa, the combination of tourism growth, strong property sales, and improved connectivity is turning Samal from a weekend destination into a bigger hospitality and property development play. The developer sees these projects as steps toward shaping a more connected and vibrant Samal community.
