MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur — The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur officially turned over two major infrastructure projects to the Municipality of Magsaysay on October 15, 2026. The initiatives aim to enhance educational spaces and campus security for local students.
Expanding Learning Spaces
The first project is a one-storey, two-classroom building for Dalumay Elementary School, constructed at a cost of almost ₱1.6 million. This new facility directly addresses the growing need for adequate learning spaces in the community. By providing dedicated classrooms, the school can now accommodate more students comfortably.
The new building significantly reduces overcrowding and fosters a much more conducive environment for daily academic instruction. Teachers and parents expressed their gratitude, noting that a well-ventilated and spacious classroom improves the overall quality of education. The facility ensures that the children of Dalumay have a solid foundation for their educational journey.
Securing the Campus Perimeter
In addition to the classrooms, Barayong National High School received a newly constructed perimeter fence complete with a beautiful gate. Valued at nearly ₱2 million, this vital infrastructure project aims to significantly enhance the safety and security of the entire school campus.
The new perimeter fence will effectively prevent unauthorized entry and keep students safely within the school grounds during class hours. This boundary provides peace of mind to parents and allows teachers to focus on their lessons without worrying about external distractions or potential security hazards. A secure campus is fundamental to a positive learning experience.
The installation of the gate and fence also helps in managing the flow of students and visitors. It creates a more organized and professional atmosphere that benefits the overall school administration and the surrounding neighborhood.
A Commitment to Grassroots Development
The turnover ceremonies were led by Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas, alongside Board Members Gladys Gascon, Kyra Valentin, and Mark Joel Gallardo. Magsaysay Mayor Arthur Davin was also present to receive the projects on behalf of the municipality and its residents.
While the presence of these officials highlights the collaborative effort between the provincial and municipal governments, the true focus of the event was the tangible benefits for the community. The turnover symbolizes a shared commitment to improving public service delivery and investing in the future of the youth.
Projects like these demonstrate how grassroots development can create lasting positive impacts. By prioritizing school infrastructure, the government ensures that learners have the facilities they need to thrive academically and socially, regardless of their location in the province. These new facilities stand as enduring testaments to the community's dedication.
