ZAGREB, Croatia — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is bringing government services directly to Filipino workers in Croatia through its Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan. After a successful two-day run in Split, the caravan moves to Zagreb on September 26-27, 2026, at Matija Gubec International School.
Split Caravan Serves 116 OFWs
The Split leg, held September 23-24 at the Franciscan Clericate, drew strong participation from Filipino workers across the region. A total of 116 OWWA e-Cards were issued during the two-day event, while 65 OWWA membership transactions were recorded. These numbers reflect the high demand for accessible government services among Filipinos in Croatia.
Beyond OWWA services, partner agencies delivered 363 assistance services to attendees and nearby communities. The caravan eliminated the need for workers to travel to Vienna or Manila for basic needs like membership renewal and documentation. This direct approach saves time and money for hardworking OFWs.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5.0 and a 100 percent recommendation rate. Organizers said the response validated the caravan model, which will now be replicated in Zagreb. The high ratings indicate that OFWs deeply appreciate services brought to their doorstep.
Zagreb Leg Set for September 26-27
Building on Split's success, the Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan will next visit Zagreb on September 26-27, 2026. The event runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Matija Gubec International School on Ul. Davorina Bazjanca 2. Filipino workers in Zagreb and surrounding areas are invited to attend and access services directly.
Several partner agencies will join the caravan in Zagreb, including DSWD, TESDA, Caritas, PAO, MWO Vienna, and the Philippine Embassy. PhilHealth, LTO, and Pag-IBIG will participate online via Zoom, ensuring that more government services become accessible. This multi-agency approach addresses a wide range of OFW needs in one location.
Workers can expect assistance with OWWA membership, e-Card issuance, and information on benefits and programs. The presence of partner agencies means attendees can also inquire about social welfare, skills training, legal aid, and other concerns. It is a one-stop shop for government services.
