TRENTO, AGUSAN DEL SUR — Twenty agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from four farmer associations are gaining new skills in using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve financial management and business decision-making through the “AI-Powered Financial Management for ARBs: Simplifying Financial Statements, costing, Pricing through Artificial Intelligence” training. The initiative is organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Sur through its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), in collaboration with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Agusan del Sur. Held at the Negosyo Center Trento in Poblacion, Trento, the training is facilitated by TIDS Charlott Carl P. Yamit, a Certified International Labour Organization (ILO) Trainer.
Using AI to Understand Business Finances
The participants are introduced to AI as a practical tool for managing and interpreting financial information. Through hands-on activities involving actual enterprise data, the ARBs learn how to simplify financial statements, evaluate business performance, calculate product costs, identify profitable selling prices, and generate insights that can support better business decisions. The training addresses the financial management challenges commonly faced by ARBs and Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs), while also strengthening their confidence in handling financial information and preparing them for the growing role of digital technology in business.
Turning Financial Records Into Growth Tools
The program goes beyond teaching participants how to use AI by encouraging them to view financial records as valuable resources for business growth rather than simply compliance requirements. Through the continuing convergence between DTI and DAR, ARBs and ARBOs are being encouraged to understand their financial figures, establish prices with greater confidence, assess profitability, and use data and AI to guide their business decisions. The initiative forms part of DTI's broader efforts to equip agrarian reform beneficiaries with practical skills that can help transform their farms and enterprises into more competitive businesses capable of succeeding in both local and digital markets.
