BACOOR CITY, Cavite — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cavite officially awarded the DTI-Bagwis Certificate of Continuous Compliance to Toyota Bacoor Cavite on September 7, 2026, recognizing the dealership's commitment to consumer protection and fair business practices. The awarding ceremony was led by DTI-Cavite Provincial Director Lilibeth R. Chavez, alongside CPD-Cavite Chief Rexel B. Amparo and Trade and Industry Development Specialist Arner P. Olayres, with representatives from Toyota Bacoor present to accept the certificate.

The Bagwis Seal: A Mark of Consumer-Friendly Excellence

The Bagwis Program, launched in 2006, is a recognition system that identifies establishments upholding fair trade laws and consumer rights. It evaluates businesses based on their adherence to fair trade regulations, compliance with the price tag law, strong customer relations, efficient store management, and commitment to social responsibility. The program requires functional Consumer Welfare Desks, dedicated customer service points where consumers can seek assistance or report issues.

Toyota Bacoor's receipt of the Certificate of Continuous Compliance indicates the dealership has consistently met the program's rigorous standards, which is particularly significant given that the company is a key economic player in the province. The automotive sector in the Philippines contributed over PHP 400 billion to the economy in 2024, representing 5.4% of the country's total GDP, with companies like Toyota playing a crucial role in this economic activity.

Digital Innovation Through the S.C.R.E.E.N.S. Project

Coinciding with the awarding ceremony, DTI-Cavite launched the S.C.R.E.E.N.S. Project (Strengthening Consumer Rights & Entrepreneurial Engagement through Next-Gen Signage). To formalize this initiative, DTI-Cavite and Toyota Bacoor signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will see the dealership integrate next-generation digital display platforms to broadcast information on consumer welfare, government services, and business development initiatives.

Leveraging digital screens in high-traffic partner establishments allows DTI to disseminate critical public service announcements more widely. By transforming traditional signage into dynamic digital platforms, the project aims to equip both buyers and local business owners with the knowledge needed to foster a fair and thriving economic environment in the province. The collaboration with Toyota Bacoor marks the beginning of an expanded rollout, as DTI-Cavite continues to partner with certified Bagwis awardees to champion consumer rights through modern technology.
