General Trias City, one of Cavite's fastest-growing component cities with a population of over 482,000 as of the 2024 census , successfully hosted a medical and dental outreach in Barangay Santiago on August 27, 2026, providing essential healthcare services to 529 local residents. The initiative, led by the Provincial Government of Cavite, brought together multiple healthcare facilities and professionals to deliver comprehensive medical and dental care directly to the community.

A Collaborative Effort for Community Health

The medical mission provided crucial services including consultations for general health concerns, dental procedures such as tooth extractions, and diagnostic tests like Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) and electrocardiogram (ECG) procedures. The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of key healthcare institutions and local health workers. These partners included the General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital, the sole government-run and only provincial tertiary hospital in Cavite ; the AMIGA District Hospital, known for its regular free medical services in the area ; Naic Medicare Hospital ; Cavite Municipal Hospital ; the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of General Trias City, which serves as the primary health care provider for the municipality ; and the dedicated Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of the area. BHWs serve as the frontline defenders in community health, providing essential support, and are the subject of a recent Senate bill that aims to protect and empower their role through benefits and training.

Aligning with Broader Healthcare Goals

The outreach in Barangay Santiago is part of Cavite's continuing efforts to bring essential health services closer to its residents. Through this mission, the Provincial Government is actively working to mitigate the challenges of accessing medical and dental services in the province, ensuring that communities receive the care they need. This initiative aligns with the broader national direction to strengthen primary healthcare and empower community health workers, who are vital in delivering services to underserved areas . The successful turnout of 529 patients underscores the community's need and the effectiveness of such collaborative health programs in the city.
