A One-Stop Shop for MSME Development
On May 13, 2026, DTI Cavite conducted its first OTOP Next Gen Assessment, Consultation, and Triage session at the New Provincial Capitol in Trece Martires City . The activity brought together 2026 OTOP beneficiaries with representatives from the FDA, IPOPHL, DOST, and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist to provide targeted technical assistance . This multi-agency approach ensures that local food producers receive holistic support covering everything from product formulation and food safety compliance to brand protection and market readiness.
The consultations addressed critical areas including product development, packaging and labeling requirements, food safety compliance, intellectual property protection, and innovation . By connecting MSMEs directly with government experts in one session, DTI Cavite streamlines the often complex process of bringing products to market, helping entrepreneurs navigate regulatory requirements with confidence.
From Training to Market Readiness
The OTOP Next Gen Program provides a structured journey for Cavite's food producers. In August 2025, a three-day seminar series equipped OTOPreneurs with essential knowledge on food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures . These sessions prepared participants for FDA compliance and guaranteed the quality and consistency of their products .
Beyond training, the program includes hands-on support through FDA consultations and on-site assistance. DOST-Cavite has conducted site visits to local food businesses to evaluate compliance with food safety regulations and guide them in preparing necessary documents for FDA License to Operate applications . DOST also offers product packaging and label design training to help MSMEs improve their market appeal . With the continuous support from various government agencies, the OTOP Next Gen Program ensures that Cavite's food products meet quality standards and are ready for wider markets.
