Strong Collaboration for Quality Education
The Partnership Award recognizes the deep connection between the local government and education sectors in General Trias City. The recognition highlights the teamwork and shared efforts in building a better learning environment for students and educators in the city. The award also acknowledges programs that uplift GenTri youth through inclusive education and sustainable support systems.
The Department of Education - General Trias City has been a key partner in implementing educational programs and reforms in the city. The division has worked closely with the local government to address classroom shortages and improve learning conditions for students. In January 2026, Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the turnover of a four-story, 16-classroom school building at Santiago Elementary School, a project made possible through coordination between DepEd and the city government . More than 100 classrooms have been built or are underway across the division in less than three years, easing congestion in several schools.
The two recipient schools—Governor Ferrer Memorial Integrated National High School and Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. Senior High School—are among the key educational institutions in General Trias City. Gov. Ferrer Memorial Integrated National High School, established through Batas Pambansa Blg. 587 in 1983, was formed by integrating the General Trias Municipal High School and two barangay high schools into one national high school . Luis Y. Ferrer Jr. Senior High School, established in 2016, was the first public institution to offer a senior high school curriculum in General Trias City and serves close to 4,000 students .
PHINMA Education, which hosted the partners luncheon, has expanded its scholarship and student support programs across the country to address college dropout rates and improve access to quality education . The company's Hawak Kamay Scholarship reduces tuition fees in selected programs to as low as PHP5,500 per semester, with no entrance examination and no maintaining grade requirement . PHINMA Education President and CEO Chito B. Salazar has emphasized that every student, regardless of background, has the potential to succeed .
