Taguig City continues to strengthen its commitment to youth health and development through the launch of the Healthy Young Ones (HYO) Initiative. Led by the Taguig City Health Office through the Adolescent Health and Development Program (AHDP), the initiative brings essential health information and education closer to students in selected public high schools. The program aims to empower adolescents with the knowledge and awareness needed to make informed decisions and develop healthier lifestyles.
Promoting Adolescent Health and Awareness
The Healthy Young Ones Initiative was conducted on October 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2026, at Bagumbayan National High School, Signal Village National High School, Western Bicutan National High School, and Taguig Integrated School, respectively. The program highlights the importance of addressing adolescent health through a holistic approach that goes beyond physical well-being. It includes discussions on mental health, nutrition, drug and substance abuse prevention and control, and tobacco control. Through these activities, students are encouraged to understand the importance of taking care of their overall health.
Empowering Students Through Health Education
The initiative provides students with opportunities to participate in interactive learning activities and meaningful discussions about health and wellness. These activities help young learners gain a better understanding of health-related concerns and develop awareness of responsible decision-making. By equipping adolescents with practical knowledge, the program encourages them to develop healthy habits and become more active in protecting their own well-being. It also promotes the importance of making informed choices during a crucial stage of their development.
Building Healthier Communities Through Youth Development
The Healthy Young Ones Initiative reflects Taguig City's continued efforts to invest in the health and future of its young population. By providing adolescents with proper health education and support, the program contributes to building healthier individuals and stronger communities. The initiative also emphasizes the importance of collaboration among health programs and educational institutions in addressing the needs of young people. Through continued efforts, Taguig City aims to nurture a generation that is informed, empowered, and prepared to lead healthier lives.
