MINA, ILOILO — The Iloilo Provincial Government has inaugurated three major infrastructure projects worth ₱71 million in this municipality. The blessing and inauguration ceremony marked the completion of a farm-to-market road and two bridges designed to improve daily travel and access to essential services for residents.
A Major Infrastructure Boost for Mina
The projects were funded by the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. Mina serves as the governor’s hometown, making the inauguration a meaningful homecoming for local development. The ceremony took place on a Saturday, reflecting the administration’s continued push to deliver services across barangays.
Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque joined the event alongside other provincial and municipal officials. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort behind these infrastructure investments. The projects aim to support daily travel, the transport of goods, and access to essential facilities for communities in Mina and neighboring towns.
Farm-to-Market Road to Solid Waste Facility
The first project is a 1.125-kilometer concreted farm-to-market road leading to the Solid Waste Management Facility in Barangay Janipa-an West. It carries a project cost of ₱21,270,600. The road provides smoother access for waste collection vehicles and farmers transporting produce.
Previously, the unpaved route made travel difficult, especially during rainy seasons. The concrete surface now ensures safer and faster movement of goods and services. This improvement directly benefits residents who rely on the facility and nearby agricultural areas for their livelihoods.
New Detour Bridge and Rehabilitated Suague Bridge
In Barangay Bangac, two bridge projects were inaugurated with a combined cost of ₱49,990,215.66. These include a newly constructed detour bridge and the rehabilitated Suague RCDG Bridge. Both structures enhance connectivity and safety for motorists and pedestrians.
The detour bridge provides an alternative route during maintenance or emergencies, reducing disruptions to traffic. The rehabilitated Suague Bridge strengthens the main crossing, ensuring it can accommodate heavier loads and increased vehicle volume. Together, they improve mobility for residents and businesses.
Supporting Daily Travel and Economic Activity
These roads and bridges support daily travel, the transport of goods, and access to essential facilities. Better infrastructure means farmers can bring their harvest to markets more efficiently. Students can reach schools safely, and patients can access healthcare facilities without delays.
The inauguration was attended by Board Member Mark Palabrica, Mina Mayor Rey Grabato, Badiangan Mayor Suzette Mamon, Mina Vice Mayor Mikmik Defensor, Lambunao Vice Mayor Arvin Losaria, and other local officials. Their collective support highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in delivering public services.
The provincial government remains committed to bringing more programs and projects to barangays. Through continued collaboration, these infrastructure investments aim to create lasting benefits for Ilonggo communities. The ₱71-million initiative represents a significant step toward inclusive rural development.
