GENERAL LUNA, SIARGAO — The Local Government Unit of General Luna hosted a Welcome Dinner on August 21, 2026, at Kawa Resort to honor the medical professionals, volunteers, organizers, and support teams behind the Siargao Surgical Mission 3.0. The medical mission is being conducted from August 21 to 23, 2026, at the Siargao Island Medical Center (SIMC), bringing together a distinguished group of local and international medical professionals to provide free surgical and medical services to members of the community.
A Gathering of Local and International Medical Experts
Present during the welcome dinner were Sui Generis Missions Founder and Executive Director Justice Geraldine Faith Econg, Surgical Mission Director and Head Dr. Henry Chua, and Cebu Doc Group President Dr. Potenciano "Yong" Larrazabal III, together with the mission's distinguished medical teams and partners. The gathering also brought together guest surgeons from UCLA-USA, UCSF-USA, NUH Singapore, PSU Thailand, and TVH Taiwan, alongside doctors, nurses, specialists, pharmacists, dentists, volunteers, mission assistants, and support teams who came together for this meaningful humanitarian mission.
A Mission of Hope and Compassion
In her message, officials expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sui Generis Missions for once again choosing Siargao as a place to serve and give back. The mission is more than providing medical and surgical care; it is about bringing hope, compassion, and a chance for a healthier life to those in need. As both public servants and physicians, they shared their honor in witnessing the dedication and generosity of the medical professionals, volunteers, organizers, and support teams who traveled to Siargao to serve the community. The LGU of General Luna expressed its deepest appreciation to the entire Sui Generis Missions team and every individual who has contributed their time, expertise, and heart to this mission.
