IMUS CITY, CAVITE — The local diamond is officially ablaze as the 2026 ASAPHIL Men's and Women's National Softball Championship (Luzon Leg) formally launched today, September 9, 2026. Running until September 15, the seven-day premier event has transformed the City of Imus Grandstand and Track Oval into the epicenter of Philippine grassroots softball development.
Organized by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) alongside its long-time backer Cebuana Lhuillier Sports, the national tournament gathers elite and rising club, provincial, and youth squads from across the region.
Setting the Stage: Growth and Preparation
Ahead of the tournament opener, organizers ensured the community was heavily involved. On Monday, September 7, ASAPHIL hosted a free Softball Coaching Clinic right at the Imus Grandstand. Coaches and players from across Luzon had the rare opportunity to train directly under national team tacticians from the legendary RP Blu Boys dugout, including veteran coaches Jasper Cabrera, Isidro "Sid" Abello, Julius Visaya, and Marlon Pagkalinawan. This push mirrors ASAPHIL's continuous focus on grassroots pipeline building, building momentum from their highly successful U18 National Championship tournament held earlier this May in Batangas City.

The host city is strongly represented on its home turf. The City Government of Imus, led by Mayor Alex Advincula, is backing three independent Imus-based softball squads looking to seal a fairy-tale ending on Championship Day. Day one has already treated fans to high-octane action. Among the highly anticipated early fixtures in the Men's Category featured a grueling match between a relentless Bulacan squad and a sharp U18 selection group. Teams are scheduled to battle through consecutive group stages before the field thins out for the single-elimination brackets leading up to the final weekend.
