Megawide Construction Corp., in collaboration with Megawide Foundation, McDonald's Philippines, and Ronald McDonald House Charities, has turned over a newly renovated Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in Bacoor, Cavite, creating a safe and inspiring space for early childhood education.
Engineering Expertise for Community Impact
The Bahay Bulilit renovation is part of Megawide Foundation's ECOnstruction Program, which leverages the company's engineering expertise and employee volunteerism to develop meaningful infrastructure projects for underserved communities. Since its launch, the program has already delivered four completed projects, with two ongoing . Megawide Operations Head Jules Ronquillo emphasized the company's commitment to community development, stating: "We play an important role in supporting community-focused projects... becoming vehicles for change, uplifting lives through education" .
Megawide Foundation, established in 2012, is the corporate social responsibility arm of Megawide Construction Corp., accredited by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification and the Department of Social Welfare and Development . The Foundation's work aligns with Megawide's mission of building a First-World Philippines through engineering excellence and innovation. Beyond infrastructure projects, the Foundation also runs scholarship programs, having spent PHP21.3 million to support engineering and architecture students since 2015.
A Partnership for Early Childhood Development
The Bahay Bulilit program is one of four flagship initiatives of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines, which has served nearly 100,000 student beneficiaries through 47 learning centers nationwide . The program, run in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, provides safe and accessible learning spaces for preschool children . McDonald's Philippines, which has grown to over 850 stores nationwide with a 75,000-strong workforce, continues to expand its community impact through initiatives like this .
Megawide undertook full interior and exterior renovation of the Bacoor facility, ensuring the learning center meets safety standards and provides a conducive environment for early childhood education. The project demonstrates how private sector collaboration can create lasting community impact, combining Megawide's construction expertise with McDonald's and RMHC's long-standing commitment to Filipino children and families . As Ronquillo noted, these projects serve as vehicles for positive change, proving that when businesses invest in education, entire communities benefit.
