AJUY, Iloilo — The Municipality of Ajuy took another step in strengthening its local economy with the official opening of its One Town, One Product Hub on September 10, 2026. The collaborative initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo and the Local Government Unit aims to provide greater market opportunities for local micro, small, and medium enterprises.
A Permanent Home for Ajuy's Best Products
The OTOP Hub serves as a showcase of the municipality's distinctive products, featuring local specialties that reflect the town's unique identity and craftsmanship. Among the featured items are Tabagak, Gourmet Tuyo, Cooked Salt, Crab Paste, and Cacao Tablea.
Other proudly Ajuy-made products include Dark Chocolate Bark, Cassava Cake, Buko Pie, Banana Chips, and Purple Rice. The facility provides local producers with a permanent venue to display and market their goods while encouraging residents and visitors to support homegrown enterprises.
A Partnership Formalized Through MOA
Following the inauguration, DTI Iloilo and the Municipality of Ajuy formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement. The agreement was signed by DTI Iloilo OIC-Provincial Director Ma. Dorita D. Chavez and Ajuy Municipal Mayor Loida J. Espinosa.
The MOA signifies both institutions' commitment to promoting local industries and expanding market access for Ajuy's entrepreneurs. It also reflects DTI Iloilo's continuing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of local MSMEs by creating accessible marketing platforms and promoting products that represent the unique identity of every community.
Launched with the Ajuy Business Park
The OTOP Hub opening was strategically held in conjunction with the inauguration of the Ajuy Business Park, a new commercial center designed to stimulate entrepreneurship and attract investment. The timing added significance to the event, as both initiatives share the goal of boosting the local economy.
The launch also coincided with the Ajuy Municipal Fiesta, also known as the Tambobo Festival, which is celebrated around September 8 to 10. The festive atmosphere brought additional energy to the occasion, drawing residents and visitors to witness the unveiling of the new hub.
Part of a Province-Wide Push
The Ajuy OTOP Hub is one of several being established across Iloilo. Other municipalities, including Barotac Viejo and Leon, have recently launched similar hubs. This indicates a province-wide push to support local MSMEs and strengthen community-based enterprises.
The Ajuy Business Park itself is a multi-phase project. The provincial government has pledged an additional P41.5 million for the construction of a dedicated wet market building at the back of the park. This will further support local farmers and fisherfolk by providing more space for their produce.
