TUBUNGAN, Iloilo — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a ₱9.75‑million concrete access road along the Tubungan–Igtuble–San Remigio Road, instantly unlocking the highland tourism and agricultural treasures of this mountain municipality.

For years, reaching Tubungan’s pine‑scented barangays and farm destinations meant navigating rough, unpaved tracks that turned treacherous during rains. The newly concreted 270‑linear‑meter stretch has changed that reality. Visitors can now drive safely to cool‑climate areas that had long been too difficult to access.
The road forms a critical link in the inter‑provincial mountain pass connecting Iloilo to San Remigio, Antique. Travelers heading to Aningalan—popularly known as Antique’s “Little Baguio”—will find the journey smoother and significantly shorter. What was once an adventure in endurance is now an inviting mountain drive.
Agri‑Tourism Takes Root
Tubungan’s high‑elevation farms produce vegetables, sweet potatoes, and other cool‑climate crops that have drawn interest from agri‑tourists. The improved road allows farm owners to welcome visitors for picking experiences and farm‑to‑table dining. Tour operators can now include Tubungan in their upland eco‑tour packages.
The easier access also encourages more local entrepreneurs to invest in agri‑tourism ventures.
