TERNATE, CAVITE - The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) conducted a relief operation in the Municipality of Ternate on August 30, 2026, distributing food packs, clean drinking water, and rice to families affected by the relentless southwest monsoon rains that have submerged parts of Cavite in recent weeks.
Urgent Assistance for Submerged Communities
Ternate has been one of the municipalities in Cavite most severely affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon . While floodwaters receded in other parts of the province, Ternate remained under water in several areas, prompting the PDRRMC to deliver much-needed relief supplies to families whose homes and livelihoods have been disrupted. PAGASA previously issued red and yellow rainfall warnings for Ternate , and the Department of Social Welfare and Development reported over 100,000 families affected across CALABARZON as of August 10, 2026 .
The August 30 relief operation follows earlier distribution efforts in the municipality. The Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc., in partnership with the Ternate municipal government, distributed 800 sacks of rice to 800 families across 10 barangays on August 13, 2026 . One Meralco Foundation also extended immediate relief to communities in Ternate and other flood-hit areas . The PDRRMC's latest intervention ensures continuous support for affected residents during this challenging period.
Continuous Government Response and Recovery Efforts
The PDRRMC's relief mission is part of a larger, coordinated response by government agencies and private partners. The DSWD has provided P128.9 million worth of assistance to affected families in the region as of August 19 . President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier directed a "whole-of-nation approach" against flooding , urging local governments and residents to cooperate in waste management and disaster preparedness. As rain and flooding continue to affect communities, relief operations like this are essential in ensuring that families receive the immediate support they need.
