LUBAO, PAMPANGA - Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda personally led the distribution of DSWD family food packs to 2,170 families in Lubao on Tuesday, August 18, bringing immediate relief to households affected by the ongoing flooding crisis that has placed the entire province under a state of calamity . The governor was joined by Board Members and personnel from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and General Services Office (GSO) in ensuring that aid reached the most vulnerable families in the municipality.
Food Packs Bring Hope to Families in Evacuation Centers
Lubao, Pampanga. Among the recipients was Marynhol, a mother currently staying at an evacuation center with her 10 family members. She shared that the food pack came as a massive relief since her driver-husband is temporarily out of work due to the floods. With over 10,000 families affected across the province and 228 barangays submerged in floodwater, every pack counts as families struggle to meet their daily needs . The Department of Social Welfare and Development has been working around the clock to preposition family food packs across affected regions to guarantee quick and efficient support delivery to local government units.
A Continuing Commitment from Provincial and National Agencies
Lubao, Pampanga. The distribution is part of the broader government response to the worst flooding in recent years, driven by the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon that has affected over five million people nationwide . Governor Pineda, who has consistently prioritized social services and healthcare programs throughout her tenure, emphasized the importance of ensuring that no Kapampangan family faces these challenges alone . Board Members and personnel from the PDRRMO, PSWDO, and GSO continue to coordinate with national agencies to deliver timely food aid and comfort to displaced families, supporting households experiencing temporary job or income loss during these trying times. The provincial government remains committed to sustaining relief operations as floodwaters continue to affect communities across Pampanga.
