Singapore-based Singtel Group reaffirmed its digital infrastructure investments in the Philippines during a mid-July 2026 meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The firm highlighted the ongoing development of its ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) in Cavite and Quezon City, cementing the region as a digital hub.

STT GDC Expansion: Cavite 2 and Fairview Facilities

The Cavite facility, a key component of STT GDC Philippines' expansion, is developing STT Cavite 2, building on existing operations . The company is also constructing a massive data center campus, STT Fairview, in Quezon City, which is poised to be the largest carrier-neutral data center in the country . These projects reinforce the Philippines' position as an emerging regional digital hub, with the region benefiting from a robust digital ecosystem .

"The continued development of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in Quezon City and Cavite is expected to strengthen the country's digital infrastructure and reinforce its position as an emerging regional data hub," the Presidential Communications Office noted.

NCS Philippines Joint Venture and Workforce Expansion

Beyond physical infrastructure, Singtel's technology arm, NCS, launched a P1.87-billion joint venture with Globe Telecom's digital solutions arm, Yondu . This partnership has successfully expanded NCS' local workforce from 150 to over 1,200 professionals, significantly enhancing the Philippines' capabilities in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, and software engineering .

Trade Secretary Cristina Roque welcomed the expansion: "The growth of NCS Philippines from a boutique team to a 1,200-strong tech workforce is a prime example of how international partnerships can create high-value, quality jobs for our IT professionals".

Policy Backing and Strategic Alignment

These commitments are fueled by regulatory reforms such as the CREATE MORE Act and the Konektadong Pinoy Act . The Konektadong Pinoy Act, in particular, establishes a comprehensive framework to modernize the Philippine data transmission industry by promoting Open Access, encouraging investment in digital infrastructure, and removing barriers to competition . This policy environment ensures that the Philippines remains competitive with regional peers like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam .

Singtel's sustained investments reflect a strong confidence in the Philippine economy, supporting the government's push to build a globally competitive digital workforce and a more robust digital economy for long-term growth .
