TRECE MARTIRES CITY, CAVITE — The youth of Trece Martires City are taking the lead in rewriting the future of health and environmental stewardship! In a vibrant culmination of the 52nd National Nutrition Month celebrations, the City Government of Trece Martires, in close coordination with the City Nutrition Committee, successfully launched the 2026 NutriKalikasan: Lakbay-Aral ng Kabataang Treceño and Feature Writing Contest. The high-impact initiative gathered the city's brightest student leaders, young advocates, and campus journalists from various public and private schools and grassroots youth organizations for an immersive learning journey.

A Multiverse of Collaboration

The comprehensive program was made possible through the unshakeable backing of City Mayor Gemma Buendia Lubigan, Vice Mayor Bobby Montehermoso, and the proactive members of the 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod, whose joint legislative agenda consistently prioritizes holistic youth development, modern leadership pipelines, and community welfare. To deliver a deeply informative and multi-sectoral experience, the city administration mobilized an extensive network of localized offices and academic institutions. The strategic caravan operated through a dynamic partnership involving the Trece Martires City Nutrition Service Division and the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO); FITS Trece Martires Agriculture and the Office of the City Mayor – Gender and Development (GAD) Division; the City Information and Communications Technology Office (CICTO) and the City Council for the Protection of Children (CCPC); and Trece Martires City College (TMCC) and the Pederasyon ng Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Trece Martires City, alongside full ground support from participating barangay councils.

Classroom Without Walls: The Immersive Eco-Tour

Bypassing traditional textbook lectures, the NutriKalikasan program brought the participants directly onto the frontlines of local governance. Youth leaders embarked on an eye-opening educational field tour, visiting highly successful urban agriculture project sites, localized nutritional feeding centers, and eco-friendly waste management hubs scattered across the city. The experiential tour aimed to deepen the youth's understanding of the deep, unbreakable relationship between systemic environmental health and human nutrition. By witnessing firsthand how organic, sustainable backyard farming directly combats malnutrition and fuels community resilience, the young Treceños gained raw, unvarnished insights into the mechanics of grassroots food security.

Sharpening the Pen for Community Advocacy

The learning did not stop at the fields. Immediately following the site tours, the event transitioned into a high-stakes Feature Writing Contest. The young delegates were challenged to instantly synthesize their firsthand field observations, data interviews, and personal interactions with community farmers into compelling, persuasive advocacy stories. Centering around the National Nutrition Month sub-theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", the writing lab pushed the students to sharpen their critical thinking, journalism ethics, and strategic communication skills. The resulting feature submissions brilliantly reflected the creativity, structural depth, and intense civic commitment of the Treceño youth—proving that their words are fully capable of moving communities toward healthier, more eco-conscious lifestyle choices. By transforming everyday students into active media advocates for health and sustainability, Trece Martires is successfully building an army of responsible, socially aware citizens. The city government extends its warmest congratulations to all the participating schools, youth organizations, and standout young writers who made the caravan a historic success. May your brave, innovative voices continue to ring loud across the province, inspiring every single Treceño to become a proud champion of nutrition, environmental preservation, and passionate nation-building!
