OZAMIZ CITY - The PHP49 million school building package gives Ozamiz City three concrete education projects to work on. Sangay Elementary School is set to receive a one-storey, four-classroom building valued at PHP12 million, while San Antonio Elementary School is included in a PHP37 million three-storey, 12-classroom structure alongside the demolition of its existing building. Capucao Elementary School is also part of the approved school-building implementation. The projects are funded by DepEd and will be implemented by the city government under the supplemental agreement signed on July 28, 2026. Together, the projects represent a substantial addition to the physical spaces available for public-school instruction across Ozamiz City.
Education Investment Goes Beyond Concrete Walls
What makes the development notable is how the classroom projects fit into a broader collection of education initiatives visible in Ozamiz during 2026. DepEd Ozamiz reported that lapel microphones were received for distribution to educators, intended to help address classroom sound and communication concerns. The division also launched its School-Based Feeding Program across all 48 elementary schools, connecting learner nutrition with the school experience. Separately, validation work was conducted for the conservation of historic Gabaldon school buildings at Ozamiz City Central School and Labo Central School. These efforts address very different needs, yet each deals with an important part of schooling: facilities, teaching tools, learner well-being, and the preservation of educational spaces.
